Natural Bridge State Park is one of Virginia’s most awe-inspiring natural landmarks, renowned for its immense scale, geological significance, and rich history. The towering Natural Bridge rock formation rises more than 200 feet and was carved over time by Cedar Creek, which still flows beneath the bridge today. Once owned by Thomas Jefferson, Natural Bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is officially recognized as Virginia State Park #37.
More than just the bridge itself, Natural Bridge State Park features lush forests, rolling meadows, and sweeping mountain vistas, offering visitors a true sense of the region’s rugged beauty. Views of the James River Valley and surrounding mountains showcase the natural splendor of this unique area.
Hiking Trails & Visitor Experience
The park offers more than 7 miles of hiking trails, including the popular Cedar Creek Trail, which begins at the Visitor Center, passes directly beneath the Natural Bridge, and continues to Lace Falls, a scenic 30-foot cascading waterfall. The Visitor Center also features historic exhibits, interpretive displays, and a gift shop.
