Barren Ridge Vineyards: Relaxing Wine Tasting Near Fishersville, VA

We visited Barren Ridge Vineyards in December 2024, for the first time, and had a wonderful experience. This family-owned vineyard in Fishersville, Virginia is owned by John Higgs, who warmly welcomed us and shared stories of their family history and time in Europe.

The tasting room is cozy and inviting, featuring a fireplace and relaxing ambiance, perfect for sampling a flight of Barren Ridge wines. The knowledgeable staff made the experience enjoyable and informative, and we also had a chance to enjoy a small lunch on-site.

A highlight of our visit was trying Gluhwein, a traditional German mulled wine popular during December at Germany’s “Weihnachtsmarkt” (Christmas Market). We couldn’t resist purchasing a few bottles to enjoy later.
